Anna Martine Freeman

Made Anna Martine Freeman an international voice on gender neutral casting.

Case study

The Challenge

Talented actor Anna Martine Freeman works with the creme de la creme of the LGBT arts world, playing transitional complex characters that push the boundaries of gender, sexuality and femininity. She’s passionate about championing gender neutral arts and challenging taboos within the industry.

Ahead of her West End debut in the critically acclaimed play Rotterdam, she wanted to raise her profile and create a platform to talk about issues close to her heart.

transgender themed play to win an Olivier Award

The Result

We ran the publicity for Anna Martine Freeman ahead of her opening night at the West End, through the play’s Olivier Award win, it’s New York off-broadway transfer and beyond.

Our public relations programme included high profile TV and print interviews in the UK and the US and management of the Olivier Awards red carpet and winner story, to secure interviews and features for the actor amongst all the Harry Potter news. The BBC, among others, declared “it wasn’t all about Harry Potter” off the back of us highlighting that the production was the first transgender themed play to pick up an award, with Anna Martine Freeman at the centre of the story.

We also helped Anna Martine Freeman raise awareness of gender neutral casting with a ‘Beyond the Binary’ workshop in the wake of the BBC casting a female lead in Dr Who.

  • "It's been such a delight working with Munch - they hit the ground running and in a short space of time secured some brilliant opportunities for me and supported me every step of the way.

  • "The team is fierce and brilliant, I'd even go as far as to call them my secret weapon!"
